On this day, March 9, 1926, Panetolikos was founded at the Gymnasium of Agrinio. Over its 99 years of existence, the Gymnastics Club of Agrinio has made history in athletics and football, earning admiration for its work and moral values.
The team from Agrinio has been a constant contributor to sports, earning respect for its ethos, principles, and values. It continues to stand out with its successes both on and off the field, serving as one of the region’s greatest ambassadors nationwide.
Since 2013, Panetolikos has maintained a continuous presence in the top tier of Greek football. The club is steadily growing, creating new opportunities for the future. We are at a historic turning point, counting down to the club’s 100-year anniversary. The club’s leadership is focused on new goals and challenges that will shape the future of this proud symbol of Aetolia-Acarnania.
The club’s founding purpose was to provide education and sports opportunities for underprivileged children. The founders of the “Canaries” aimed to bring the ancient Greek ideal of “a sound mind in a sound body” to life—and they succeeded, inspiring thousands of young men and women.
