Winning start with a 3-2 victory over Fulham.
Chelsea made a winning start to their Premier League campaign, securing a 3-2 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage. Xabi Alonso’s side claimed all three points in their opening match, with Cole Palmer playing a starring role.
The Blues opened the scoring just 31 seconds after kick-off, when Palmer created the opportunity for João Pedro, who found the back of the net.
Chelsea extended their advantage through Rogers in the 41st minute.
Fulham responded before the end of the first half, with Josh King beating Robert Sánchez in the 23rd minute to reduce the deficit.
Palmer then put his own stamp on the match, calmly finishing past Bernd Leno in the 49th minute. Fulham refused to give up, however, and Gonzalo García scored with a close-range header in the 54th minute to keep the contest alive until the final whistle.
Despite late pressure from the hosts, Chelsea held on to their 3-2 lead and celebrated their first three points of the season. Xabi Alonso also marked his Premier League debut in the Blues’ dugout with a victory.
